Who We Are

I’m Anita, the founder of Laipa.

In my two decades as a paramedic, saw how easily people could fall through the cracks of our healthcare system and how much clarity and steady guidance matter.

But my lived experience is not just professional — it’s personal. I was the primary caregiver for both of my parents through complex illness and decline; I supported my mother through ALS and later cared for my father through stage-4 cancer. I understand the weight that caregivers carry, and the level of uncertainty that comes with making medical decisions.

I hold these experiences close when I work with my clients. I believe that we all deserve honest guidance and support through difficult times, and my mission is to fill in the gaps that a complex and overworked healthcare system can’t always cover.

Your medical care team is designed to offer medical advice, diagnostics and clinical care. I’m here to offer everything in between: support, education, advocacy, coordination and clear communication so families can navigate illness with dignity.

Meaning of Laipa

In Latvian, Laipa means a footbridge over water — a steady crossing from uncertainty to clarity.

My role is to walk alongside you — bridging gaps in understanding, communication, and support — so you feel informed, grounded, and able to take the next step.

Our
Mission:

We walk hand-in-hand with families navigating healthcare challenges, advocating and empowering every step of the way. When serious illness destabilizes every aspect of life, we serve to uplift patients and caregivers to live authentically through every trial. We work to clarify the unknown, crystallize the uncertain, and lay a foundation for acceptance of everything that can’t be predicted in your healthcare journey.

Our
Vision:

  • A world where illness and dying are approached with understanding rather than avoidance.

  • Where families receive clear, honest information so they can reduce suffering, feel empowered, and make decisions with clarity and integrity — in life and through death or major transitions.

  • Where caregivers are recognized, supported, and included, rather than left to carry the weight alone.

  • And where end of life is met with dignity, truth, and connection, honoring patients, families, and the professionals who walk alongside them.

Our
Values:

  • Dignity. We understand, affirm and honour each person’s humanity. We root every open dialogue in a mutual human respect.

  • Integrity. We are led by honesty and authenticity always, no matter what. We believe in doing what’s right, even when no one is watching.

  • Clarity. We communicate clearly and transparently. We open dialogues for confident decision making, augmenting conversations among patients, families and medical professionals.

  • Compassion. We interact and respond with gentle empathy. We illuminate all sides and situations, re-framing resistance as an opportunity to understand.

  • Empowerment. We empower you to find your courage. We help you reclaim your voice and echo your needs at every turn.

You don’t need to figure it out on your own.
